Trump revokes Secret Service protection for former Vice President Kamala Harris
Vice presidents typically only get six months of protection after they leave office, but President Biden signed a memorandum in January extending Harris' protection to 18 months.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former Vice President Kamala Harris will no longer receive U.S. Secret Service protection following a directive from Donald Trump, a senior adviser to Harris confirmed on Friday.
“The Vice President is grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety,” the adviser said in a statement.
The move marks a reversal of a January decision by President Joe Biden, who signed an executive memorandum extending Harris’ security detail for 18 months beyond her departure from office. Typically, former vice presidents receive Secret Service protection for only six months after leaving office, a guideline established by legislation Congress passed in 2008. That law authorized limited protection for former vice presidents, their spouses, and children under the age of 16, unlike former presidents, who are guaranteed lifetime coverage.
The Trump administration’s decision was first reported by CNN and has already sparked debate about security norms and political precedent. While presidents retain the discretion to extend or revoke additional Secret Service protections, such moves are rare and often scrutinized due to the political sensitivities involved.
A senior White House official confirmed that Trump’s decision simply restores the standard protocol, emphasizing that Harris had already received well over a year of extended coverage.
This is not the first time the Trump administration has scaled back protective services for members of the Biden-Harris family. Earlier this year, Trump ordered the termination of Secret Service protection for President Biden’s adult children, Hunter and Ashley Biden, citing similar reasoning.
Federal law requires lifetime protection for former presidents and their spouses, as well as coverage for their minor children until they reach age 16. By contrast, vice presidents historically receive far less security post-tenure—a distinction that some security experts have argued leaves high-profile figures vulnerable.
With this revocation, Harris is now one of the highest-profile former U.S. officials without a dedicated Secret Service detail, although she may rely on private security arrangements. The decision comes amid an increasingly charged political climate, where security concerns for former top officials have become more pressing than ever.
The greedy bastard spends OUR TAX MONEY however on whatever he chooses, like flying the government employees all over the world ( and Alaska) for what? To open a new golf course that belongs to him, personally or Alaska, so he can bend down and OVER to kiss putin’s ass?!?!?! Oh, but his rivals don’t deserve protection??? I hate that pig!🐷
