Two dead and multiple people injured, including State Trooper, in Lexington, Kentucky String of shootings
A suspect shot a trooper and then fled the scene to the Richmond Road Baptist Church, where another shooting occurred, according to Kentucky state officials.

A series of shootings across Lexington, Kentucky, left two people dead and multiple others wounded — including a Kentucky State Police trooper — after a violent encounter that began with a traffic stop and ended in gunfire at a local church.
The chaos started just before noon on Sunday when a state trooper attempted to pull over a vehicle in Fayette County. According to Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers, the stop was prompted by a license plate reader alert. At approximately 11:36 a.m., the driver opened fire on the trooper during the stop.
“The trooper was shot during the encounter and the suspect fled the scene,” Weathers said during a press briefing.
Emergency crews transported the injured trooper, who remains in stable condition and is currently being treated at a hospital.
The suspect then drove to Richmond Road Baptist Church, where another round of gunfire erupted. Investigators believe the suspect may have known some of the individuals at the church.
“Initial findings suggest the shooter had a personal connection to people on the church property,” Chief Weathers stated. “A total of four people were shot at the church.”
Among the victims were two women who were pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional male victims were also struck by gunfire — one is listed in critical condition, while the other sustained injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
Officers responding to the second scene confronted the suspect, who was subsequently shot by law enforcement. The individual was declared dead on site. Officials said the suspect’s identity will be released once their family has been notified.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear addressed the tragedy on social media, offering words of support to victims and first responders.
“Please keep all those impacted by these acts of violence in your prayers, and thank the Lexington Police Department and Kentucky State Police for their quick action,” Beshear posted on X (formerly Twitter). “We will provide further updates as more facts become available.”
Authorities have linked the trooper shooting to a separate incident reported near Blue Grass Airport, about 16 miles from the church. State police said both reports came in around the same time, raising questions about how the events unfolded.
The Lexington Fire Department confirmed it responded to a shooting call at 11:39 a.m. on airport property. One person was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, according to local affiliate WLEX.
In a brief statement, Blue Grass Airport clarified that the shooting happened along a roadway within its grounds, though not inside the terminal itself. The airport shut down the terminal and nearby roadways as a precaution but later reopened after securing the area.
Chief Weathers emphasized that although the shooting occurred on the airport’s access road, the incident did not involve the airport directly.
Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman also weighed in on the day’s violence, acknowledging the risks law enforcement officers face daily and offering support to the victims and their families.
“Today is a sobering reminder of the dangers our law enforcement officers willingly face to keep our communities safe,” Coleman said. “Our office stands ready to provide any assistance needed by our partner agencies.”
Well thank goodness he had second amendment rights to carry his gun in the car. Expect more shootings like this because who can tell if it's real law enforcement or ICE kidnappers playing terrorist dress up. Maybe we need to encourage more second amendment rights for California so they can get rid of the ICE infestation.
