We were gaslighted into thinking that we weren’t able to contest the election. That we would be like the 2020 election deniers.

They were banking on the fact that the Democrats would take the high road and concede.

Unfortunately, they were right.

There should’ve been an immediate recount. There should’ve been an immediate investigation into election integrity.

And as heart wrenching, and profoundly damaging to millions of Americans as this has turned out to be…

We need to know that the next election cycle will be accurate and fair.

And right now we cannot say that with any degree of certainty.

And the GOP is counting on it.

Several cyber agents sent a “Duty to WArn” letter regarding election interference weeks after the election citing serious anomalies in vote returns in mostly swing states.

The White House reply?

CRICKETS!

They could have requested hand counts of votes across the country in specific counties…

BUT THEY KNEW…

And DID NOTHING!

This is on the so called democratic presidency—

They could have challenged the votes—

But abandoned we, the people…

And now we are stuck with a madman in the WH…

WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS WHO TOOK OATHS TO PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION!!???

Thank you. I just finished emailing Act Blue about their donation solicitations. It’s ridiculous for such organizations to shame Americans to donate, because the organization is on its hand and knees begging for donations. Is this a play from the republican playbook? Why are our representatives saying it’s not time for impeachment filings? What happened to the dignity the party had under former Presidents Carter, and Obama? Our representatives are bottom feeders, acting like democrats in republican clothing. What dirt does trump have on these people that makes them roll over?

Democratic voters are smarter than this. Since our reps won’t do anything, we are in the streets protesting this administration, and its actions.

I don’t care about the democrats who wouldn’t fight the certification of the 2024 election because then they would be acting like republicans. It’s damn time we wake up, and get new blood in congress and the senate. It’s time we stop acting so arrogant. It’s time to roll up our sleeves, and those of our representatives to save what little is left of our democracy.

Now that we’ve bombed Iran, who knows if we’ll even be here to hold an election in 2026. Something radical needs to bring great change to our party. I remain a Democrat solely to be able to vote in the primaries. Obviously I’d never register with the party of Maggat Man and his minions.

Danny I understand your frustration. But God she ran a brilliant campaign despite the limited time. Give her a break. If we get drained hearing about the political landscape at the moment, imagine what it’s like to be not only front and centre but also in the midst of this whirlwind. I think Kamala is to be applauded and she underlined my pride in being a woman. She was and still is a brilliant, intelligent, articulate and insightful woman with her finger on the pulse of politics. Don’t you think she deserves a break (figuratively speaking)? Maybe someone else should take up the inspector audit mantel.

Expand full comment
Danny Piper's avatar

Penny, I love your positive attitude. You found a way to see the bright side of her campaign. I admire your positive outlook and respect your opinion. Thank you!

I was her biggest advocate and defender during the campaign. Since the election, I have come to the realization that Harris showed bad judgement and was part of a hustle by DNC to maintain their power players in the WH.

First, Kamala's bad judgement was hiring her brother-in-law, the Chief Uber attorney, to be a key advisor. I will go into more detail in my future reply to the WP. For now I will just say that it's more than nepotism that showed she was unfit to lead the country.

Secondly, the Harris campaign was deceptive from the get-go, IMO. Rather than hold a primary that would've framed the issues, created excitement and generated priceless free media worth hundreds of millions, the WH & DNC gave America epic Kabuki theater that elevated Harris as the candidate. I believe WH insiders knew Joe was not strong enough for another 4 years, so they waited until it was too late to run a primary so Harris could be appointed as the candidate.

As you may recall, the WH visitor logs revealed Walter Reed's leading Parkinson's doctor made visits to the WH. This news greatly saddened me. My father was diagnosed with Parkinson's. I was his caregiver for several years. Sadly, I saw Joe make several similar motions my father made. Let me be clear: having early stages of Parkinson's did NOT make Joe unable to lead, IMO. I only made Joe slower, more susceptible to falls and most importantly, not suited for a grueling campaign 12-15 hours a day across the swing states for 3 months. I could be wrong, but I suspect that the WH knew Joe had Parkinson's before 2024. (Watch Joe Stewart's TDS episode when he says "we all knew" he was too old to run for another term.)

Now then, just because WH insiders knew Joe was going to step down doesn't mean that Harris was forced to run as the candidate. She was privy to polls showing her likeaby made her a poor choice. Most importantly, she was appointed the Border Czar and didn't fix the problem. She and the WH knew "the border" and immigration was going to be a major issue and that didn't help her candidate profile. Harris and the DNC also knew that many in MI, an important swing state would (fairly or unfairly) hold her accountable for the epic suffering continuing to unfold in Gaza. IMO, Harris has to have known that others had a better chance of winning.

She must have known that her whole career was based on being at the right place at the right time, rather than a strong leader and policy wonk who had natural charisma like President Clinton, Obama and Trump. Again, she must have known that her unfavorable numbers made her victory questionable, and she had no policy accomplishments (other than Biden's strong economy) and see was not a strong stump speaker capable of working a crowd.

Being from CA didn't help her either. "East and West Coast Elitest" have the reputation of being out of touch. This notion was reinforced when Dems were accused of letting boys beat up on girls in sports. It stuck because it's true, sadly. This little matter changed the entire narrative so that Republicans were the real protectors of women. (Wow! Forget healthcare!) I don't know how anyone can support trans competing against girls? They must have zero experience with competitive sports or they would know that it's totally unfair for biological boys to compete against girls. Moreover, nobody said education funding for 100% of students is more important than .01% of girls in high school sports.

In summary, Harris knew that it would be a tough race to win, and others were more likely to win. But Harris did what what many politicians (and many people) do and put herself/himself and themselves first. I'm not "frustrated" as much as I am disgusted and jaded by Harris and the DNC. It was like a slow motion train wreck with leaders out to lunch... Funded by corporations to ensure that Lina Khan would be sidelined so Biden's anti-trust work would stop. Well... As they say, "ya dance with who brought ya to the dance." Harris didn't get that.

Again, I do respect and admire your positive outlook. It's really not like me to be negative. Sorry I'm not more cheerful with my analysis. On the bright side, at least jobs will come back to the US, the President is telling Netty to cool it, and girls will not get hurt just trying to play sports in high school.

If this doesn't cheer you up, I will say, for the record, that YOU are totally gorgeous, brilliant and caring. Hopefully, someday we will have a President more like YOU! ;-)

Danny, thanks for that. It’s so refreshing to be able to exchange ideas without insult- love Substack for that.

Small note; I do find it interesting how little you let KH ‘get away’ with, and interesting also that you’re so disappointed by her. Aren’t you missing the giant elephant in the room with floppy blond hair. Compare these two and there is no contest🫶🤷🏻‍♀️.

The elephant that just recently stomped on so many people I don’t know where to begin and days ago boasted proudly like a kid in a sandpit playing with a Tonka toy that he’d ‘dropped a payload of bombs’ on Iran soil- unprovoked it appears and then chastises them demanding peace - simply one example. Do you think KH would have done that and the miriade of cray cray ‘stunts’ that Trump is doing.

You make valid points however and I’m taking them onboard. Jury’s out however as i suspect I don’t agree. But good points regardless.

From an outsider’s view it seems as though clear thinking articulate and insightful democrats are over analysing the wrong topic.

Where is the independent voting audit from the second time Trump got elected? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Most of the accounts claiming “there’s nothing we can do” are just echoing troll army talking points. The goal is to take back the presidency—and Section 3 of the 14th Amendment gives us the constitutional tools to do it. The idea that “there’s nothing we can do” isn’t just defeatist—it’s disinformation, designed to paralyze us. First they mocked us as “BlueAnon.” Now they admit the election was stolen but claim there’s no remedy. That pivot isn’t honesty—it’s strategy.

Let’s be clear: there is a remedy. And we intend to use it. Accountability isn’t optional—it’s necessary for democracy to survive.

While there is no current constitutional remedy to put the actual elected administration in office, it would be yet another reason for impeachment, and one that might include impeachment of Vance along with trump.

Knowing how it happened could help put in security measures for future elections along with laws to accurately punish the perpetrators and to correct the takeover of an illegitimate regime.
